Hey Happy People,
We are back with another 30 Day Photo Challenge and it is going to be slightly different.
Yes, I didn’t do one in September as I needed time to recover from a hectic summer as mentioned in this post, but I am now ready to do another challenge and it will be the last one for 2020.
For the November Edition, I really wanted to do something different from my previous two editions. In April and June, I share images from two rolls of film – April was colour and June was black & white. For the November edition, I decided to see if I could get some of my photographer friends, colleagues and acquaintances involved. My idea is to have them photograph something and I respond to their image. This is something that I have seen people do and I wanted to try it out.
One of my favourite projects that I have seen this being done is by David Campany and Anastasia Samoylova where they “…shoot and post photographs for each other to respond to, in a never-ending visual exchange…” with the images posted on a dedicated Instagram page. In 2019, a book was published by Fulcrum Press with a selection of images from the Instagram page and I love it.
Anyway, I went through my list of photographers that I know, messaged them and I also put out a call-out. I am happy to report that I got 30 photographers who agreed to take part in the challenge, but unfortunately 5 of them pulled out when it was too late to find replacements. Part of the challenge I suppose. Not everything goes according to plan.
Seeing that I will not be sharing with you photographs from a roll of film, the rules will be slightly different:
My Rules.
- To post two photos a day – the photograph of the person I challenged and my response to their photo.
- No captions. Just the photos.
- Only other text will be the person’s website or social media.
Participant Rules.
- Subscribe to my blog so that you are notified when I post. No spam, I promise.
- Share your day/photograph on your social media. If not on your feed, Instagram Stories is even better.
- If you have a website with a blog, you have to do a blog post and link back to this introduction post as well as the day your post goes up.
If you are reading this post, here are your rules.
- Subscribe to my blog so that you are notified when I post. No spam, I promise.
- Like the post and leave a comment. Let me/us know what you think of the photos that I share on the day.
- If there is a particular post/photos you like, share or reblog it to your followers.
- Always check out the links I share on each day of the persons website or social media and if you like their work, please let them know by giving them a follow.
Winter is coming and it can get pretty boring really fast especially after the year we have had. I am doing this to keep my/our creative juices flowing and because it is something fun to do.
At the end of this challenge, I may do a quick recap here or on my YouTube channel sharing my part on how I went about responding to the images. So click here to subscribe if you haven’t already, but you are not obliged to.
Do not worry if you miss taking part in this one, as the next time I do a challenge will be in April, June, September and November of 2021. If you would like to take part, you can sign up by filling out the form at the end of this blog post using the #30DayPhotoChallenge in the message section.
What are you most looking forward to in the challenge?
