***WARNING – This is a ranting post. I need to vent***
At the moment, I am at the point of starting to resent photography.
Now, before you go up in arms about my statement, let me explain.
We all know how easy it is to be immersed in art of taking pictures that you forget where you are going to put it all. Before digital, you had to deal with all the prints (the good and the bad) and the film rolls. Not forgetting the albums used to store the memories of the images you took. The size of the prints, if used in large scale, etc.
This documentary of William Klein briefly explains this (interesting to watch too)
When it comes to digital, you have to deal with memory, be it in your laptop, desktop, harddrives, media cards, etc. At the moment, I really struggling to manage my digital photographs on my computer as it is now full. To make matters worse, I have upgraded my kit from a 10mp DSLRÂ to an 18mp DSLR and I have found the confidence to shoot RAW.
What does this mean? I NEED TO GET MORE MEMORY TO BACK UP ALL MY IMAGES AND WORKFLOW!!!! This means…..I HAVE TO SPEND MORE MONEY. AAARRRRGGGHHHH…..!!!
Breathe in, breathe out!
Now you see why I am starting to resent photography. It is taking up too much virtual space and I am not in a position (financially) to support this. Check back with me on this in a couple of years months time. I may have changed my tune.
RANT OVER….
I still love taking pictures though. I am in the process of appreciating and turning my love for photography into art. With time, once I have sorted out my storage nightmare….I will also come to love keeping all the images I saved. I know one day they will come in handy.
