Hey Happy People,
We are coming back with another 30 Day Photo Challenge.
ICYMI, I did three challenges in 2020 which can be revisited here, here and here with the last one being a collaborative challenge involving 25 photographers. I didn’t do one in September as I needed time to recover from a hectic summer as mentioned in this post.
Quick recap: In April and June, I share images from two rolls of film – April was colour and June was black & white, but for the November Edition, I really wanted to do something different. I wanted to see if I could get some of my photographer friends, colleagues and acquaintances involved. My idea was to have them photograph anything and I respond to their image. This is something that I have seen people do and I wanted to try it out. You can read all about the instructions for that one here.
For the first challenge of 2021, I will be switching it up a bit from the previous challenges done in 2020.
Therefore, for this year’s April challenge, I will be amplifying 30 BIPOC Women Photographers. The idea is to ask each lady to pick one photograph/project from their extensive body of work and speak about it. Do you see how this can be a challenge in itself? 😬 😅
It can be really hard to pick just one photograph/project from a huge body of work and then, being asked to just speak about it can also be a challenge in itself.
I have done this a few times and posted videos on my YouTube channel and this is where the idea to do it as a challenge came from as I hardly saw other BIPOC photographers doing it. I also found it very difficult to do, but I did it anyway. Hence the birth of ‘Photo Story’ series on my channel.

So click here to subscribe if you haven’t already, as I will be posting these stories on my channel from the 1st of April 2021 at 12 noon (GMT).
The next time I will be doing a challenge will be in June, September and November of 2021. If you would like to take part, follow me on Twitter where I post updates on any challenges that I do in the future.
What are you most looking forward to in this challenge?
