30 Day Photo Challenge – June Edition

It is important to make photographs, because photographs, among their other virtues, are markers of time.

Another 30 day month is here and I almost didn’t do this challenge as I didn’t know how I would be doing it. Staying motivated to do anything creative during the pandemic has been a real struggle for me.

Then I remembered that I have a roll of film that I haven’t shared here which can be used for this challenge. So for the month of June, I will be sharing a B&W 35mm roll of film.

Same rules apply from my challenge in April as follows:

    The Rules

    1. To post one frame per day.
    2. No captions. Just the photo.
    3. All photos from the roll will be posted. Even the ‘dead’ frames.

If you are reading this post, here are your rules.

    1. Subscribe to my blog so that you are notified when I post. No spam, I promise.
    2. Like the post and leave a comment. Let me know what you think of the photo that I share on the day and how it makes you feel.
    3. If there is a particular post/photo you like, share or reblog it to your followers.
    4. At the end of this challenge, I will post the 6 remaining frames from a 36 exposure film roll as a bonus post. I would like you to comment on this final post of the challenge and let me know your favourite image from the whole challenge.

Side note: Did you notice anything new with my website? Yep, that is right, I changed my logo. That was one of the goals I made for this year.

Shame about the last one. I guess that will have to wait for now until things get back to normal, but I digress.

Back to the topic of this blog post, I will be posting a photo a day from a 35mm 36 exp. roll of film. On July 1, I will then share the remaining 6 frames. Depending on how I shot the film, sometimes I can end up with 37 or 38 frames. We will see when the time comes.

If you are new here, please scroll down until you see BLOG POST ARCHIVES and then select April to check out the photographs I shared during that month for the challenge.

Will you be following to see what photographs I will be sharing this time round? Leave a comment to let me know and/or subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss when I post – every day at 8am GMT.

  • 30 Day Photo Challenge: Bonus Post

Happy New Month everyone! Which also happens to be my birthday month.

I am so proud of myself for sticking to it and doing a photo a day for a whole month. That was not easy at all. This bonus post will be my chance to reflect on the 30-Day challenge and also, to share with you the remaining frames from that roll of 35mm film.

In case you missed it, the introduction post before the challenge can be found here.

The film I shared was shot back in 2018 in February/March and it is only now that I have managed to scan and share the images with you. I had not even seen the photos properly prior to this challenge, so it was a pleasant surprise. If there is one thing I realised once I saw the photographs is that I like taking another photo of the same scene just in case. And this is why I sometimes ended up two of the same photo.

The photos were taken during winter in a resort town in the East Coast of England called Great Yarmouth.

My friends and I had planned this trip so we could see the Martin Parr and Tony Ray Jones ‘Only in England (The Non-Conformists)’ exhibition at the Time and Tide Museum and we arrived when the museum had closed for the day. So instead, we wandered around the deserted beach taking photographs. Other than my phone, I only had my 35mm film and instant film cameras with me as this was a no-digital photography type of trip. I have to admit, I did enjoy photographing using film without reaching out for my DSLR as back-up.

Anyway, here are the other frames from the 35mm 36exp roll.

Now that you have seen all 36 frames, which photographs have been your favourite? Leave a comment below with Day 2, 13, 25 or any of the photographs shared on this blog post.

I will be doing this challenge again in June as it is the next month with 30 days. Not sure what kind of images I will share then, but keep checking in. I might just surprise you and myself.

From next week, I am back to posting once a week on Fridays.

Stay safe and don’t forget to wash your hands!
