Photograph every day; never give up; it’s supposed to be difficult; try to find some pleasure and reward in the act of photography, because you can’t look for praise from editors, curators, or critics. In other words, keep taking photographs and sharing even when you think no one is looking at them.
I am sharing this with you as I have been in some sort of rut lately and other priorities have been taking over my time. As a result, my enthusiasm to continue with this project has been faltering lately. However, when I was looking for quotes on not giving up, as I do like sharing quotes here on my blog, the one above resonated with me.
It resonated because, I am not a good writer, but I still do write on my blog and newsletter, no matter what. Also, I never stop photographing completely as I always find myself taking pictures even though they do not make sense at the time.
I started the 30 Day Photo Project so I can give myself space to experiment with my photography, share my images and also connect with other creatives through collaborations. A little way of keeping myself in the creative bubble even in moments like this when I don’t feel like creating or sharing my work.
Since my last 30DPP in June, I have been in a state of wanting to stop the project, but I am constantly being reminded of the connections I have made through the months I have collaborated with other photographers and the work that I have created during this project that has gone to (and will) be featured in exhibitions and competitions. So, as a promise to myself, I have to keep it going for a little bit longer.
For the September 2022 edition, I wasn’t too sure what I would be sharing until four days ago. I was stuck but remembered that I do have film strips which I haven’t seen in a while since I had them developed. I will be sharing with you one of those strips, all 36 frames, even the ‘dead’ ones. If any of the images do look decent, I will be putting them up for sale on my PRINT SHOP.
