  • 30 Day Photo Challenge – April 2021 Edition

    Hey Happy People,

We are coming back with another 30 Day Photo Challenge.

ICYMI, I did three challenges in 2020 which can be revisited here, here and here with the last one being a collaborative challenge involving 25 photographers. I didn’t do one in September as I needed time to recover from a hectic summer as mentioned in this post.

Quick recap: In April and June, I share images from two rolls of film – April was colour and June was black & white, but for the November Edition, I really wanted to do something different. I wanted to see if I could get some of my photographer friends, colleagues and acquaintances involved. My idea was to have them photograph anything and I respond to their image. This is something that I have seen people do and I wanted to try it out. You can read all about the instructions for that one here.

For the first challenge of 2021, I will be switching it up a bit from the previous challenges done in 2020.

Therefore, for this year’s April challenge, I will be amplifying 30 BIPOC Women Photographers. The idea is to ask each lady to pick one photograph/project from their extensive body of work and speak about it. Do you see how this can be a challenge in itself? 😬 😅

It can be really hard to pick just one photograph/project from a huge body of work and then, being asked to just speak about it can also be a challenge in itself.

I have done this a few times and posted videos on my YouTube channel and this is where the idea to do it as a challenge came from as I hardly saw other BIPOC photographers doing it. I also found it very difficult to do, but I did it anyway. Hence the birth of ‘Photo Story’ series on my channel.

So click here to subscribe if you haven’t already, as I will be posting these stories on my channel from the 1st of April 2021 at 12 noon (GMT).

The next time I will be doing a challenge will be in June, September and November of 2021. If you would like to take part, follow me on Twitter where I post updates on any challenges that I do in the future.

What are you most looking forward to in this challenge?

  • 30 Day Photo Challenge: The Recap

As of today, the 30 Day Photo Challenge – November Edition has ended.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 25 photographers for taking part and allowing me to ‘have fun’ with it.
It was not easy as some of the submissions were really hard to respond to, but none the less, I stopped overthinking it and just went with my gut even it didn’t make sense. The key thing was to pick one element from the photographs and respond the best way I knew how.
I am still not sure if I will make this a regular thing. Any feedback from you as my readers and followers will be greatly appreciated.
Regular weekly blogging resumes, but be on the lookout for the next 30 Day Photo Challenge coming in April 2021.
