  • Project: Sahara Sand

Sahara Sand, 2022 – Part of the ‘Remnants’ series

I certainly missed catching a glimpse of the sky turning orange as dust from the Sahara permeated over the U.K.

However, as soon as I stepped outside, I could see surfaces and windows were covered in these fine dust particles all the way from Africa.

As always, I just had to photograph anything that caught my eye, like the lid of our dustbin in our garden.

Broken Bracelet, 2021 – Part of the ‘Remnants’ series

When I started wearing these bracelets, they were at least 15-20 of them. Over the years, I have seem to lost count of how they reduced in number. I have had them for at least 20 years with a brief period where I didn’t wear them for a while. Now, they never leave my wrist until they break.

The bracelets are made of hard wearing rubber and now as they age on my arm, they are slowly telling me that is it time to let go of them. One by one, as the cracks pinch my skin, I know it is only a matter of time before they are all gone. I am not even sure if I can or want to replace them. For now, I will keep documenting the breakages.

And I suppose, this is why I love photography.

It imprints. It makes permanent. It immortalises.

Wax, 2020 – Part of the ‘Remnants’ series

I am still working on this project where I photograph things/moments which we otherwise ignore or don’t think twice about. Once those things and moments are gone, they are gone forever. This project is about the mundane and how it makes me feel.

And I suppose, this is why I love photography.

It imprints. It makes permanent. It immortalises.

  • Project: Breakfast

Breakfast, 2020 – Part of the ‘Remnants’ series

I do not know what it is about this photo, but looking at it makes me sad.

It was just a simple breakfast of toast and black tea with a side of an easy peeler.

  • Project: Ex Steam

Ex Steam (2019) – Part of the ‘Remnants’ series

One of my children marked the bathroom mirror with an ‘X’ and I hardly noticed it until I took a shower and there it was. What does it even mean?
