Portraits: Richard + Cynthia + Inaya

My first attempt in ‘Baby Bump’ photography I did a while back and I have to say, pretty please with the results. Now that I have ‘more time’ on my hands, I do hope I get to do more of these.

My guinea pigs are dear friends of mine, Richard and Cynthia, shot in their local park one sunny summer afternoon.

All I can say is, it was a fun shoot all done in natural light. As long as Cynthia was comfortable, Richard and I were too.

Here is to Baby Inaya…who will be turning 4 this year. Well, how time flies!

5 Favourites from My Second Film Roll in 2017

My Canon AE-1

Well, what can I say, I am on a film roll.

Get it….film roll…on a roll…

Oh, forget it if you don’t get it. I am not one for telling jokes. 😂

Anyways, I took more pictures on my second Kodak ColorPlus 200 film soon after I finished the first one. Click here if you missed my post on the first roll of film.

It literally took me most of February to finish shooting with it. My kids and the weather played a big part in it, unlike the first film which took me two months.

I won’t bore you loads of words this time, as I am not feeling very well this week. I just wanted to keep the weekly post consistency in this blog going.

Photographs were taken between 01/02/2017 and 21/02/2017 with a Canon AE-1 using Kodak ColorPlus 200 film. The film was processed on 22/02/2017. Digitally scanned using the Epson Perfection V750 Pro on 01/03/2017. Editing in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Without much further ado…

Taking Instant Pictures

Last year, I bought a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 camera. My intention was to get kids at my son’s school excited about photography during the Winter Fair, but that was a bust 😔.

I guess, I was just too excited and I failed to do my photobooth homework well.

With more practice, I will definitely be back.

Fast forward to May, 2016, having not used the camera for a while due to other commitments, I decided I would actually make use of my Instax camera, but I needed a challenge. Shooting using film, instant or otherwise, in this day and age of digital photography is not cheap. Anyway, I dusted off my cool blue Instax Mini 8 camera, bought my film from Amazon UK and came up with an idea to shoot using the film.

The Kenya Sevens team were going to be in town for London 7s and I thought I would do my own version of the squad profiles using the camera. And this was the result…

There was a lot of buzz from this image on my Instagram and I knew I was on to something. Even Fujifilm UK reposted my image on their feed.

I actually even used the camera to collect signed prints from a few people during London 7s which I will be posting on my Instagram feed in due course. One of which I kept from the Kenya 7s team – Collins Injera – as he became the ‘All Time Try Scorer’ of all time in the Sevens World Series.

What next? I have something planned for June using my Instax Mini 8 and I am so excited about it. My son even wants one now. So I may just upgrade to the Instax Mini 70 in Island Blue and gift the Mini 8 to him on his 6th birthday.

Man Like Nells

What else can I say, but what a pleasure it was to photograph Nelly. The caption on the IG post says it all.

Sometimes it just take a bit of courage and self believe to see a project through. Being a creative is all about knowing and feeling the right vibe with your subjects.

With Nells (as he like to be called) it was smooth sailing.

Follow him on Twitter or preferably on Youtube to listen to his music. Very talented young chap in my books.
